Government House
Letter to the Princess Royal
15 JULY 2020
15 JULY 2020
Dearest Granddaughter,
First and foremost, let me say how deserving you are of the title of Princess Royal (don't tell your uncles, they'll try their damndest to overthrow me). I discussed it for days with your grandmother before we came to the realization that no one was better suited for the job than you are. I have no doubt that you will excel in the role and you will bring our Monarchy the new blood it so desperately needs at this tough time for our beloved home. I look forward to working with you closely in the next few weeks and months so that our family can give itself a renewed sense of strength and leadership.
I hope you, Cameron, and the kids are settling into Fanningbank nicely. It was hard for your grandmother to agree to move into Government House with me. I'm not so sure how you managed to get her to agree to leave her beloved home and come live with her old husband but I thank you nonetheless. (You'll have to spill how you did it eventually.) I hope to see Cameron soon, it'll be nice to spend some time with members of the family who are busy with their other engagements abroad. It will also be nice to finally spend some time with my grandchildren. I've been away for so long that I've barely even had a chance to see them recently. Grace has told me great things about how they've been behaving and I hope to see that myself soon.
Now I'm sure you're wondering as to why I'm writing you today, after all, I've never been to big on letters. Nowadays all my official business is conducted electronically so at times I forget how to even sign my own name unless it's going onto an Act of Parliament. Lately your grandmother has been feeling a little (very much...) homesick so I thought it would be nice for the both of us to take a trip over to Fanningbank for the remainder of the summer, it'll help her shake of that homesickness and it'll get me away from the hustle and bustle of Government life.
I hope you say yes, mostly because by the time my courier delivers this letter we'll already be halfway on our plane flight to Prince Edward Island (your grandmother's idea...I'm sorry.) We'll be there within a few hours so please be sure to have our quarters ready, otherwise your grandmother will throw a fit and you'll have to deal with it for the entire summer.
Your Loving Grandfather,
Henry.
